Emergency Drugs List
According to the Resuscitation Council UK and the BNF, all primary care dental practices must hold specific emergency drugs and equipment. Missing or expired items will result in an immediate CQC failure.

Storage & Checking
- Weekly Checks: The kit must be checked weekly, with expiry dates logged. (A common CQC audit point).
- Glucagon Storage: If Glucagon is stored outside a fridge (below 25°C), its shelf life drops from 3 years to 18 months. You must amend the expiry date on the box.
- Oxygen Cylinders: You must have a size D cylinder (or equivalent) capable of delivering 15L/min, with a full backup cylinder highly recommended.
Required Equipment
Alongside drugs, the following equipment is mandatory:
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) with adult and paediatric pads.
- Pocket mask with oxygen port.
- Self-inflating bag with reservoir (adult and child sizes).
- Clear face masks (sizes 0, 1, 2, 3, 4).
- Oropharyngeal airways (sizes 0, 1, 2, 3, 4).
- Portable suction (e.g., Yankauer).
- Spacers for Salbutamol administration.
