The treatment centre is the core of your clinical output. When comparing units, look past the upholstery and focus on engineer availability, parts cost, and delivery ergonomics.
Delivery System Ergonomics
How you operate dictates the chair you buy. Do not force an associate who uses Continental delivery to work on a Traditional system.
- Traditional (Over-the-Patient): The UK standard. Easy for nurse changeover. Can feel claustrophobic for the patient.
- Continental (Whip-Arm): Reduces pullback strain on the wrist. Excellent for prolonged restorative work.
- Cart / Cabinet Delivery: Best for keeping instruments out of the patient's sight (paediatrics/anxious patients).
- Ambidextrous: Crucial if you have left-handed associates or hygienists sharing a surgery. Look for Belmont or A-dec models with track mounts.

The "Squat" Practice Reality
